When the bombing of Halabja happened, “Thousands of Kurdish civilians were reportedly killed or injured” (Back in Time). The estimated amount of people who died a terrible death was about 5000. Many people were reported killed but many of the natives fled to the nearby countries, such as, Turkey.  The people who did escape, they suffered many health problems, and birth defects. When the victims were found, they had green goo coming from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths, and their skin was peeling and different colors. Not only were people killed and injured, so were their homes, villages, and land. After the bombing, “By June 1988, 3,479 of the 5,000 Kurdish villages had been destroyed, 825 schools were closed, and 2,247 mosques and churches were burned to the ground (Saeedpour, 1992). In the 1980s, more than 50,000 Kurds were believed to have "disappeared," while over” (Uekert). This quote shows how much damage was done to such a small village. Because of the bombing, many people that used to live their, wont move back because they are still scared of the terrible past. The town was recently rebuilt and repaired and cost  a ton of money, approximately millions. There were so many deaths that happened in Halabja and cost them a lot.
